Artist's notes:
 The
black and white inked version of the Eastern Painted Turtle
was completed in 2005 and coloring added by digital tinting
in 2007. The drawing is based on a photograph by the talented
photographer Dennis Desmond.

Information about the Eastern Painted
Turtle:
Eastern Painted Turtles are medium-sized turtles that
range from Nova Scotia to Georgia. They have two large
yellow spots on the sides of their heads. Like other painted
turtles they can be found in lakes, ponds, streams and slow
moving rivers and swamps. These reptiles are very popular
in the pet trade and are often kept in large aquariums.
