Artist's notes:
The
American Robin illustration was commissioned by Stackpole
Books for
Laura Erickson's 101 Ways to Help Birds. The ink drawing
was completed in 2005 and the digital tinting added in 2007.

Information about the American Robin:
The American Robin is a migratory songbird of the thrush
family. This songbird is widely distributed throughout North
America. It winters south of Canada from Florida to central
Mexico and also along the Pacific Coast. American Robins
can be found in woodlands, gardens, orchards, lawns, and
open fields. The bird is active mostly during the day and
assembles in large flocks at night. Its diet consists of
invertebrates, fruits and berries. It is the state bird
of Connecticut, Michigan and Wisconsin.
