Information about the Mexican Beaded
Lizard:
The Mexican Beaded Lizard is, along with the gila monster,
is one of only two venomous lizards in the world. But the
Beaded Lizard is larger and not as colorful as it's more
northern relative. The Beaded Lizard is a specialized predator
feeding primarily on bird and reptile eggs, which makes
exact function of the lizard's venom uncertain and the subject
of some debate. It is not aggressive and poses little threat
to human. Generally these reptiles grow to about 24 inches
long.
