Artist's notes:
 The
ink version of the Collared Lizard was completed in 2004
and the digital tinting added in 2007. I have often looked
for these colorful lizards in the wild but as of 2008 have
failed to find one.

Information about the Collared Lizard:
The Collared Lizard is native to the western states of
the U.S. They inhabit rocky areas with sparse vegetation.
They grow to about 8-14 inches including tail. Males tend
to be green to tan colored with patterns of dorsal spots
and bars to a speckled pattern across the dorsum. The lizards
possess two prominent collar-like black bands at their neck,
hence their name.
