| This illustration is also available as stock art. | Artist's notes: This drawing is based upon some studies and photos taken at the new reptile and amphibian house at the Oakland Zoo. Oddly enough, the woman who is responsible for the breeding of these rare frogs for zoos and aquariums in the US contacted me recently asking if she could use the image for her husbandry guide. I explained how I made the drawing, and it turns out the golden frogs in the Oakland Zoo came from her frog farm!
| Information about the Panamanian Golden Frog:The Panamanian Golden Frog is a small, brightly-colored, toad-like frog. Females are larger than males, measuring about 2 inches (53 mm) to the male’s 1.8 inches (45 mm). The frogs inhabit tropical forest regions, particularly on mountains, near streams. Curiously, this critically endangered amphibian has been shown to communicate by waving its hands in a form of sign language. FREE SHIPPING IN THE US! |
