| Information about the Chambered Nautilus:The Chambered Nautilus is a mollusk, related to the octopus, squid, clam and snail. They are found in the Indo-Pacific area and live primarily near the bottom in waters up to 1500 feet deep. At night they rise closer to the surface. Nautilus pompilius can grow to a length of about 8 inches. The animal creates chambers that increase in size as it moves to occupy the outermost chamber of its shell. An adult may have about 30 of these chambers. The smooth thin shell spirals and has a pattern of brown and white. FREE SHIPPING IN THE US! |
