| This illustration is also available as stock art. | Artist's notes: This is the first cephalopod I've ever drawn, back in about 1998. I've drawn quite a few since then along with some other octopus (blue-ringed and giant pacific.) I have no immediate plans to draw more, but I'm always open to suggestions to draw other species of octopus.
| Information about the Common Octopus:The Common Octopus is a medium sized cephalopod growing about 24-36 inches in length. They are found in tropical, subtropical and temperate oceans all around the world. They generally stay in coastal waters in the shallows where they hunt for fish, crustaceans and bivalves. Like all octopuses, Octopus vulgaris is an expert at camouflage. They are able to change the texture of their skin along with the color to blend into their surroundings. When threatened they can discharge a large dark cloud of ink. FREE SHIPPING IN THE US! |
