| This illustration is also available as stock art. | Artist's notes: The Burrowing Owl was commissioned by Stackpole Books for Laura Erickson's '101 Ways to Help Birds.' The image was drawn in 2005 and the color added in 2008. If the image hadn't been commissioned it's likely I would have drawn a Burrowing Owl anyway as owls are a favorite subject of mine.
| Information about the Burrowing Owl:The Burrowing Owl is a small owl with long legs found in the open landscapes of the Americas. The owls can be found in grasslands, deserts and even in urban areas and cities, provided there is enough open area with low vegetation. Unlike most owls, Burrowing owls are active during the day, with hunting done primarily at dusk and dawn.
