Artist's notes:
 The
White Rhinoceros is a 're-do' from an earlier drawing. Animals
with tough hides like the rhino are excellent subjects to
render in pen and ink. Having somewhat of a 'soft spot'
for rhinos, I always enjoy illustrating them. While this
particular drawing was created from a photo, I had done
some studies of the white rhino at the Wildlife World Zoo
in Arizona. I think it was the first time I had seen a rhino
and was fairly amazed at how enormous they are.

Information about the White Rhinoceros:
The White Rhinoceros lives primarily open woodland with
nearby open grassland, thick brush, and water. The term
"white" rhino is actually a misinterpretation of the native
African word "widje," referring to the wide mouth of the
rhino. White rhinos are among the largest living land animals.
They can weigh up to 5000 pounds have a head-and-body length
of 11-14 feet.
